Hi, I am also in Texas not so far from Austin. I'm not a professional dancer, (just for the joy of it) but I play a mean set of zills and am beginning to learn to play my doumbek. Belly dancers of color are pretty invisible in these parts. I don't believe that we don't exist, though. We probably are running about in fragmented pieces of a tribe, thinking we are alone. I am actually thinking of putting out fliers.... "All dancing tribeswomen of color meet under the big tree in --------- Park at 1 pm, Sunday. Bring your drummers" or something similar. I am tired being being the single solitary everywhere----tribeless.
