Hey, I'm not sure how many of y'all know, but the University of Houston will host this years Miss Black Texas pageant. I am a contestant in the pageant AND a belly dancer. Of course, for my talent, I plant to belly dance the heck out of that stage! I am in the process of raising money for the trip. I live in San Antonio so I will have to pay for the pageant/tickets/travel/hotel/costume all that good stuff. So, to my fellow belly dancers of color, if you live in Houston and would like to help me out...let me know!! I can pretty much use anything! I have been belly dancing since the age of 8 (modern Egyptian and American Cabaret) I also have extenise training in Bollywood and Israeli folk dance. So, if you or your studio would be interested, I can have a low cost workshop in Houston that Friday and use the proceeds for the pageant. Or if anyone has any other ideas on how I can raise money and positively impact the belly dance community, let me know!
